The weather is cooling off thankfully! But that doesn’t mean your schedule has to! We have curated a diverse list, showcasing some fun activities in and around Central Houston!
Hermann Park – If you’re looking for a day out then look no further than this sprawling 445-acre urban park. This park is located east of Rice Military and features train ad pedal boats, gardens, Art in the Park, Lake Plaza and so much more! This is the perfect place to spend the day on a nice winter day.
James Turrell “Twilight Epiphany” Skyspace at Rice University – Come out and catch the spectacular light sequence at sunset and sunrise. The LED lighting sequence showcase an assortment of colorful hues onto the open knife-edge ceiling. This is a free event worth watching where reservations are not required. Though the best time to come out is sunrise and sunset, the Skyspace is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Kindred Stories – A good book is the perfect pairing for a winter day. This cozy bookstore in historic Third Ward features works written by Black authors and goods curated by Black artists. The store is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 12 noon to 5 p.m.
The Menil Collection – Located in the heart of Houston is the museum inspired by the legacy of Italian artist John and Dominique de Menil. The Menil Collection features an array of art from antiquated times to now. Entry into the museum is free and is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
