New Houston Restaurants to Try this Summer

Tired of going to the same restaurants over and over again? Check out Sandcastle Homes list of the top 10 hottest new restaurants in Houston to try this summer according to the Paper City Magazine, Eater Houston, and the Houston Chronicle.
1751 Sea and Bar – If you are looking for some fantastic seafood, 1751 Sea and Bar is the place to visit. This location, which was formally known as Star Fish, underwent a renovation. From gumbo and etouffee to fresh oysters to poke, they have everything you could want!
Truth BBQ – For all those BBQ lovers, this is the place to try out this summer! Truth BBQ, which made the “Top 50 Barbecue Joints” in the Texas Monthly, is serving food including spare ribs, 18-hour smoked brisket, tater tot casserole and even red velvet cake. Leonard Botello IV, owner and pit master, even competed on Food Network’s Chopped Grill Master last year.
Squabble – Located in the north Heights, this new restaurant comes from the team who created Better Luck Tomorrow. This restaurant will feature American and European dishes with a bold Texas flavor! Some of the dishes will include pork neck schnitzel, smoked grouper, and Dutch pancake with honey and fresh cheese.
Taste Bar and Kitchen – If you are looking for some upgraded comfort food, check out Taste Bar and Kitchen in Midtown. This restaurant has an outdoor patio, downstairs bar and dining room upstairs with a stage for live music. Their cocktail menu ranges from classic to artistic as well. As of right, they are only serving brunch and dinner, but plan to add lunch to the menu soon.
Killen’s TMX – Chef Ronnie Killen has opened up another killer restaurant, Killen’s TMX, which features his take on Tex-Mex. Some of the fantastic dishes include pecan-smoked short rib, chicharrones-style pork belly and moles. You definitely won’t regret coming here to eat.
Verdine – Formally that was a vegan food truck has officially opened its permanent location in the Heights. Their menu includes all plant-based meals including gluten-free pasta, vegan tacos, quinoa grain bowls and even organic wines! Verdine is only currently open for lunch from 11am to 3pm daily.
